Grout Pen FAQs

The Grout Pen I received has a dry white tip, is it broken or did I receive the wrong color?

Tips need to be primed before use, all brand new Grout Pens have a dry white tip until they are activated.

The tip of my Grout Pen fell out or is worn down, is my pen broken?

Tips are designed to be removable so when a tip becomes worn or damaged it can be taken out and flipped over. If the tip falls out do not worry, simply put it back in and keep working.

Do I need to press down hard while moving the pen along the grout lines?

Pressing hard will only damage the tip of the pen as grout lines are rough. It's better to fully prime the pen by pressing in and holding the tip for about 20 seconds, once the tip is fully saturated lightly move the pen across the grout line. The best practice is to make multiple light passes along the grout line instead of one heavy stroke.

Pro Tips:

When applying Grout Pen to tile walls or any vertical surface, it is easier to work from the bottom up instead of the top down. Grout Pen works best on unsealed grout. If your grout has been sealed previously this may prevent Grout Pen from being able to correctly adhere to the grout. It is recommended to do a small test area first if you are not sure about the color.

Is this toxic or does it product an odor?

This is odorless and non toxic! It has an innovative formula that contains anti-bacterial agents that help prevent mold from reappearing.

What if my grout is sealed? How do I test this?

Grout Pen may not bond to sealed grout. Test the porosity of the grout with a few drops of water. If the grout does not absorb the water drops within a few minutes, this indicates that the grout was probably sealed.

Where can I use this?
